Unplanned Pregnancy?

Is your pregnancy unplanned? What do you do first? Take a deep breath, and visit us. Come in and talk, whether you are considering parenting, adoption, surgical abortion, or medication abortion (abortion pill). Our caring staff will listen to your story, and discuss the options and resources available. If your pregnancy test is positive, a nurse will provide a free ultrasound to confirm that you even have a viable pregnancy in the uterus, and see how far along you are. It is important to know this before you make any pregnancy-related decisions. You’re not alone!

Free Pregnancy Testing & Ultrasound

Home pregnancy tests are not 100% accurate. They may also read positive in the hours or days following a miscarriage.10-20% of all pregnancies end in natural miscarriage. Only an ultrasound read by a qualified professional can confirm a viable pregnancy. Come in to have a nurse verify a positive pregnancy test for you, and confirm it with an ultrasound read by Dr. Marilyn Kindig Stahl.

Are you parenting?

We offer individual weekly classes for expectant parents and parents of 2 year olds and younger. Learn about pregnancy, labor, preparing for baby, breastfeeding, parenting, and more. Earn diapers and baby supplies by taking these classes. You can earn a new crib and car seat! Relax, grab a snack and hot drink, and enjoy an enlightening class.

Miscarriage and Abortion Confusion. What are the facts?

Miscarriage. As stated above, miscarriages happen in approximately 10-20+% of pregnancies. Miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of the unborn before 20 weeks. The medical term for miscarriage is “Spontaneous Abortion”. This wording can confuse many. A miscarriage is not an induced abortion such as is a hot topic right now. Induced abortion is the ending of pregnancy by artificial means. Many women who miscarry their child require surgery (D&C) to remove the tissue. This procedure after a miscarriage is not in jeopardy of being outlawed even if there are changes to Roe vs. Wade. In short, don’t be confused or panic because of the unclear wording. We too wish the 2 terms were different.

What are the symptoms of a miscarriage? Heavy vaginal bleeding. Cramping in lower abdomen, lower back or pelvis. A gush of warm liquid from your vagina. Loss of pregnancy symptoms. Sometimes no symptoms are present, and a healthcare provider discovers the miscarriage on an ultrasound. If you feel you are experiencing a miscarriage, call your OB doctor or visit the closest ER for confirmation and further instructions.

“I’m struggling.” Many women who experience a miscarriage deal with varying degrees of physical and emotional pain. Follow your doctor’s guidance and tell someone if you’re struggling. We’ll listen! Below are some additional online resources for those who have miscarried. Your child mattered, and your grief is natural. Hang on and don’t give up hope!
